"Here's your lunch, Mom!"
My five-year-old walked into my office with a sub from the shop down the street.
She was walking precariously like she was carrying far more than that. She made it in and something fell out of her hands. She couldn't figure out how to pick up it while still holding the box, so she abandoned whatever it was for a minute to unload.
She put the box on my desk and scurried back to the other side of the room and then raced back to proudly unveil two slices of cheese.
"Dad said they did the wrong cheese, so I wanted to bring you the right cheese," she said, holding them out at me.
Delicious.
I have never been more touched by two dusty slices of cheese in my life. Also, I need to clean my office.
She has a heart of gold and a precision about cheese and that last part is as good as a DNA test.
The kids are alright.
