I attend most of our LBee Health groups.
Not as the group leader.
Not as the owner of the company.
As an actual participant.
I created most of the documentation for our curriculum.
I choose the topics and hire the group leaders.
I train them all with Natasha, our Chief Clinical Officer.
And I still get something out of every session even though I know exactly what is coming— or so I think.
The beauty of it is, you can’t really predict where the support groups are going to go, even though we have set topics. People show up and introduce themselves and share their stories. Those stories resonate with the other people in the group, who then share their similar experiences. Then the group leader adds some of their expertise.
Before we know it, we’re 45-minutes into an hour-long group and we haven’t touched the curriculum. That’s fine because it’s about more than the plan.
It’s about the support, and that manifests itself in many, many ways.
It’s not about control. It’s about creating an environment that is flexible enough for the people it holds.
Based on the number of repeat participants, I think we’re doing that.
